APRS Presentation from Kenny Witt KC4OJS

Kenny Witt, KC4OJS provided a lecture and discussion regarding APRS, it’s uses for day to day operations and emcomm applications. Kenny also discussed with the group his time in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria while deployed as a communications unit with the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief.

Reminder: SKYWARN Class is Thursday April 11, 2013

Remember that a meteorologist from the National Weather Service office in Morristown will be at our club meeting, on Thursday April 11 2013 to teach a SKYWARN Spotter class.

The meeting and class will be held at the Roane Co. Rescue Squad building in Midtown at 7:00pm (Eastern).

This meeting is open to anyone who would like to attend.

Talk-in will be on the 147.015+ (PL 110.9) Repeater.

Field Day 2009 is Nearing

Roane County Amateur Radio Club and the Roane County Amateur Radio Emergency Service will be conducting radio operations from 2 pm Saturday until noon on Sunday 6/28 as part of an annual Field Day event. Those interested in antenna erection should plan to arrive at noon Saturday. There will also be a Rummage & Bake Sale Saturday afternoon 1 to 4 p.m.  Everyone is welcome at this FREE event to learn about and experience “ham radio.”  Fort Southwest Point in Kingston on Hwy 58.  For more info visit www.ke4rx.org or call Lou at 354-8367.

Bring Your Windows Laptop to Our Meeting

The next meeting of the Roane County Amateur Radio Club will be on June 11th. Bring a Windows laptop if you have one to take part in our Field Day Network logging program demonstration.

We’ll show you how to use the program for everything you could need to do.

The network will be wireless but we will be able to handle up to 3 wired computers. If you need to connect by ethernet to the network, please bring your own peice. 25 foot or longer is reccomended.
