With a new year comes RCARC New Memberships and Renewals. RCARC Memberships run January through December and are due for renewal at the first of every year. The club has insurance premiums, repeater maintenance, utilities and other expenses so membership is very important to the club. I hope each and every one of you will consider renewing or joining RCARC this year and actively participate in our meetings and events!! It takes everyone to make the club grow so let’s band together and Git Er Done!!

Hello Everyone

The Roane County Amateur Radio Club will meet on Thursday December 12th at 6:00 pm. This is our annual election of officers and Pot Luck Christmas Dinner meeting, so all RCARC members are encouraged to attend. Please bring a covered dish of a vegetable or a desert. RCARC will provide a ham. New Members and Visitors are welcome too!!

In November RCARC voted to increase our dues for 2014. It has been several years since the dues have been adjusted. The increase is from $15 / year to $20 / year so it isn’t much. Please consider using the attached application form to renew / join RCARC for 2014 and help support our club and repeater systems.

And finally, we have our election of officers for 2014. Currently all incumbents are seeking to retain their positions, but qualified candidates are encouraged to run. If you want to run for office in RCARC, just let me, or any other club officer know, or just let us know when you arrive at the meeting to be placed as a write in. Qualifications for officers is on the RCARC club website in the RCARC Bylaws document at www.ke4rx.org

OH, one last thing. Congratulations to Phil KE4LSH, Anna KE4VJM and Sheila on their new home in Rockwood!!

RCARC June Meeting and Newsletter

It’s that time of the month again. Time for the RCARC Newsletter and Meeting. RCARC will meet on Thursday June 13th at 7:00 pm in the Roane County Rescue Squad at 2735 Roane State Highway in Harriman TN. This is the Midtown community just about a mile past Krogers traveling West and across from the Drive in Theater. I hope to see everyone there.

Field Day is coming up and Roane County Amateur Radio Club will be participating in Field Day at Fort Southwest Point in Kingston on Saturday June 22 and Sunday June 23. If you enjoy Field Day, make plans to come visit us and make some friends. Talk In is on the 147.015+ (pl 110.9)

Finally The Roane County VE Team has an exam session scheduled on Saturday June 8th at 9:00 AM by appointment. E-mail Keith Dalton wv4g.keith@gmail.com for more information or if you want to schedule an exam.

April 2013 SKYWARN Training at RCARC

Hello Folks!!

I want to remind everyone that The April 11th 2013 RCARC meeting will be our annual SKYWARN training provided by the National Weather Service out of Morristown, TN. Training will be at The Roane County Rescue Squad building located at 2735 Roane State Highway in Midtown (Harriman) TN. Training will begin at 7:00 pm so be a little early if you can for sign in and seating. Plan to stay till about 9 to 9:15. It’s a little long, but well worth it. Membership is not required to attend and We hope to see everyone there and bring a friend!! Public is invited to attend.

Talk In will be on 147.015+ (pl tone 110.9)

One last thing. The Roane County VE team will hold their bi-monthly exam session by appointment on Saturday April 13th, 2013 @ 9:00 am. in Harriman TN. For more information send an e-mail to Keith Dalton WV4G : wv4g(at)arrl.net or Jim Dalton K4FPG : jsdaltonk4fpg(at)att.net to schedule an exam.

The Roane County Amateur Radio Club will meet next Thursday 3/14/13 at 7:00 pm in the Roane County Rescue Squad directly behind the United Way office in Midtown. We have a guest speaker scheduled to give a presentation on protecting your computer network on the internet and how to safeguard yourself. This should be interesting and a topic anyone can relate to. I look forward to seeing everyone at the meeting. Be sure to invite a friend and introduce them to HAM radio!!
